Worldview Overview¶

In the world of the Shape Shifter Curse, the moon is not just another star in the night sky — it is the source of power that rewrites life itself.

Whenever a sleeping titan awakens from its eternal slumber, purple moonlight floods the land, seeping into the veins of all things, slowly rewriting humans into Shape Shifters — half-human, half-beast beings.

The Nature of the Curse¶

"The nature of the curse is not destruction, but evolution…"

The Shape Shifter Curse is not a simple disaster. It is a deep rewriting of life:

Humans under moonlight gradually grow beast ears, scales, and claws
Their senses are vastly heightened, able to hear whispers carried on the wind
But as the change deepens, the memories and consciousness belonging to "human" slowly fade
They may ultimately lose themselves entirely, becoming nothing but beasts of instinct

Factions¶

Shape Shifters¶

Humans rewritten by moonlight. They wield power beyond ordinary mortals, and were once the guardians of villages. But the deepening of the curse leaves them at constant risk of losing control.

Marauders¶

A faction that has learned to wield the power of the curse. They "brew the curse into a more intoxicating honey", using familiars as tools of war, controlling Shape Shifters through catalysts and collars.

Familiars¶

Shape Shifters completely controlled by the Marauders. Magical creations whose souls have been twisted and now answer only to their masters. They have lost all self-awareness, becoming pure tools of combat.

Key Concepts¶

Cursed Moon¶

A special lunar phase casting a purple-red radiance across the sky. Under the Cursed Moon, the mutation of Shape Shifters accelerates to terrifying levels, and it is a required condition for using the Moon Essence Cross to evolve.

Moon Essence Cross¶

An ancient relic that can break the shackles of form under the Cursed Moon. But its energy source is the user's life essence — "the walker's life is its kindling" is not a metaphor, but a statement of fact.

Permanent Form¶

The state in which a Shape Shifter has completely finished their transformation and can no longer return to human form. Only Shape Shifters in a Permanent Form can use the Moon Essence Cross to evolve.

Power of the Moon Scar¶

The legend of the Spirit Realm Lord did not end with "Red's" sacrifice. When a later Shape Shifter seeks out and reads every scattered page recounting the Spirit Realm Lord and the Moon Essence Cross, a memory that is not their own awakens within them — this power is called the Power of the Moon Scar.

It is said that a Familiar Fox who has ascended to the Spirit Realm Lord (SP Familiar Fox), once they have gathered all related records, will one night under a Cursed Moon be wholly consumed by that memory in their sleep, permanently transforming into the legendary crimson form, "Red." Only the faint glow of the Moon Essence Cross can call the self back from the chaos.

Beasts Under the Curse¶

The moon's rewriting was never aimed only at humans, foxes, and wolves. When the power of the Moon Essence Cross or the Evolution Stone soaks into a night-flying bat, it too transforms into something utterly different:

Desmodus (Vampire Bat): Under the Moon Essence Cross, it becomes a blood-craving vampire, driven by Blood Thirst, hunting by night and fearing sunlight and iron.
Parasitic Fruit Bat: Under the Evolution Stone, it mutates into a sower, planting spiritfruit seeds into allies and enemies alike, managing the battlefield between buffs and debuffs.
